GPL License — How It Works

Everything we sell is licensed under the GPL — the same open-source license WordPress itself uses — which is exactly what makes redistributing it legal and what gives you so much freedom.

What the GPL is

The GNU General Public License (GPL) is the open-source software license that the overwhelming majority of WordPress themes and plugins are built on. WordPress core itself is released under the GPL, and because themes and plugins are derivative works that build on WordPress, they generally inherit the GPL too. That is not a loophole — it is how the WordPress ecosystem is designed to work.

The four freedoms it gives you

The GPL is built around four core freedoms that travel with every copy of the software:

  • Use it for any purpose, on any project, commercial or personal.
  • Study and modify it — the source code is open, so you can adapt it to your needs.
  • Redistribute it — you are free to share copies with others.
  • Distribute your modified versions — improvements and customizations can be shared too, under the same license.

Why we can legally sell and redistribute it

The GPL explicitly permits redistribution, including for a fee. We are not selling you the software license — that license is free and stays free under the GPL. What you pay for is the service around it: careful curation of trustworthy products, reliable hosting, fast and dependable downloads, regularly refreshed versions, and a single account that keeps everything in one place. The code is open; the convenience is what we provide.

What you can do with what you download

Because of the freedoms above, your rights here are genuinely broad:

  • Install on unlimited sites — your own projects and your clients' alike, with no per-site activation limit from us.
  • Modify the code freely to fit each project.
  • Keep your files forever — once downloaded, they are yours to use indefinitely, even after a download or membership period ends.

What is not included

We want to be upfront so there are no surprises. A GPL download does not include:

  • Official support from the original author or vendor.
  • Access to an author's private update servers.
  • Premium license keys or activation codes. Some products ship cloud or premium features that phone home to the author's own servers — those specific features may not function without an active key from the original vendor.

Legitimate GPL, not "nulled"

These are legitimate GPL redistributions — the genuine, unmodified files as released under their open-source license. They are not "nulled" or "cracked" software, and we do not inject malicious code, backdoors, or tampered files. If you come to rely heavily on a particular theme or plugin, we strongly encourage you to support the original developers by purchasing directly from them — it funds the ongoing work that benefits the whole community.
